Photography and Gecko Travel
A new way of viewing travel photography
....a series of original Gecko Travel photographic tours to South East Asia, combining well known sites with off-the-beaten-track secrets, lead by professional travel photographer Nathan Horton.
These exciting itineraries offer endless photographic opportunities and fascinating and original insights into the peoples, landscapes, cultures and history of the regions visited.
Aims are to encourage beginners, casual amateurs or budding pros to, not only get to know their cameras better, but to interact with their subject matter in more meaningful ways and to emphasize a style of travel photography that appreciates local people, their cultures, traditions and religions, and encourages a positive impact on the places and people it visits
“We are not looking for participants to walk around with a camera permanently stuck to their eye and/ or shove large lens in locals’ faces. Rather we will ask them to look around and understand their environment in order to make informed and selective choices about what they are really trying to achieve from their pictures” says Nathan Horton.
The tours are orientated towards digital users not only to teach the most up to date techniques, but also to improve the learning curve through the added advantage of instant feedback. Most days we look at the best of the student’s work on laptops and discus as a group. Simple post-production tricks are then demonstrated which can often considerably improve shots.
Quite simply these trips offer such a wealth of photographic opportunities and professional advice that it would be very difficult to go home without a portfolio of images that you would be very proud to show anyone. |
